The Chippewa County Historical Society in Montevideo, Minnesota, founded in 1936, is the home of Historic Chippewa City and the Swensson Farm Museum. The purpose of the Society is to promote and pursue the discovery, collection, conservation, preservation and dissemination of historical knowledge about Chippewa County and its environs. We collect printed matter, manuscript material and museum items including photographs, negatives and artifacts. The office and Tourism and Welcome Center is open year round, 9 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday. Historic Chippewa City is open to visitors 1-5 pm Saturdays and Sundays and holidays. Swensson Farm Museum, on the National Register of Historic Places, is open 1-5 pm Saturdays and Sundays. Tourism season rums Memorial Day to Labor Day.
