Founded in 1972, the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society (ELMHS) collects and preserves the history of the Lake Minnetonka area, particularly Excelsior, Deephaven, Greenwood, Shorewood, and Tonka Bay, Minnesota. Our Archives and Museum are free and open to the public, and contain a large collection of historical artifacts, photographs and documents. The Society also regularly presents programs on topics of local historical interest, offers programs for youth and publishes and sells books about Lake Minnetonka history.
The Society’s archives are located in the lower level of the historic Excelsior Public School building, 261 School Avenue, Excelsior, MN 55331.
