Description
Adz: Adz with wooden handle. This adz belonged to George F. Meyer, who emigrated to Hay Creek, Goodhue County from Prussia, Germany in 1855 or 1856. In Hay Creek he homesteaded 160 acres, he and his brother, William being among the first sttlers of that township. In 1866 George built a water-pwered flour mill (He was known as "Miller Meyer"). In 1891, when the railroad came through, he changed the motive power of the mill to steam.
