8.890 cm. W x 33.020 cm. L Item (Overall)

The head of the gavel is 3.75" long and 1.75" high. The handle is 11' long.

Lightweight gavel probably made of pine with a dark stain. There is writing on both sides of the head of it, but it is faded so as to be now unreadable. It was used at the meetings of the J.G. Wittemore G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) Post #36 of Villard and was understood that the last living member would receive the flag and gavel. This member was Peter Pennie who passed away June 7, 1927.
