"This Hoopa basket is16.5 inches in diameter and was used for food. Hoopas could gather vegetables and berries in these baskets and wash them in the same basket because the weave is very open. This is a round basket of natural colored willow root. It was made for me [Cleora C. Helbing] by Josephine Campbell, just to show me what the Indians used and still use in preparing food." There are 7 stitches per inch.
